Our New Parish Priest

Our new parish priest is Fr. Scott Hastings. He was assigned here from Sacred Heart in Norfolk, where he served for two years as the Parochial Vicar (Associate Pastor). Currently, Archbishop Lucas has assigned Father as the Parochial Administrator of St. Leonard's and the Parochial Vicar for Spanish-Speaking Catholics at Sacred Heart. Father is very happy to be here in Madison!

Father Scott grew up in Omaha at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He has five siblings, one of whom is his twin brother. He loves to fish, kayak, cook and read. He plays the piano and the organ. When Father entered the seminary, our previous Pastor, Fr. Dermot Dunne, was the Parochial Vicar at his home parish.

Father Scott graduated from the University of Dallas with a degree in economics. He attended Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis and was ordained for the Archdiocese of Omaha in 2008, along with Fr. Jeff Mollner and Fr. Chi Igboanusi. While in the seminary, Father was assigned in the summers at Boys Town, Holy Name in Omaha and St. Patrick's in Fremont as a deacon.

Father Scott serves in the Archdiocese of Omaha on the Natural Family Planning Board and the Natural Family Planning Auxiliary Committee. Also, as requested, Father offers the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (The Latin Mass). Father also teaches classes in rural parishes in Spanish for those who wish to serve as Lectors or EMHCs. Father is also the State Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus.

Most of all, though, Father Scott is excited to be at St. Leonard's!
